How to show your social media feeds in SharePoint

SharePoint has no native social feed. Why third-party embed widgets are a problem, and how to show your own posts natively, read-only, with no trackers.

Showing your organisation's own social posts on the intranet keeps staff connected to the company's public voice - campaigns, culture, announcements. SharePoint has no native social feed web part, so most teams reach for a third-party embed widget. That works, but it comes with baggage. Here's the trade-off and a cleaner way.

The usual approach: third-party embed widgets

  • Services that generate an iframe or script you paste into an Embed web part.
  • They aggregate feeds from several networks into one wall.

Where that falls short

  • Embedded widgets inject third-party tracking scripts into your intranet pages.
  • They can be slow, break when a network changes its API, and rarely match your brand.
  • Feeds render inside an iframe, so they sit awkwardly in the page and are hard to style.
  • Most are subscription services in their own right, on top of your intranet.

The supported way: a native SPFx social web part

A SharePoint Framework (SPFx) web part can surface your feeds natively, without the tracking baggage. Glow Cloud Kit Social shows your organisation's own published posts from YouTube, Bluesky, Mastodon and RSS (with Facebook and Instagram coming soon), rendered natively on the page - no iframe. It is read-only (it never posts on your behalf), you authorise your own accounts, and it routes through your own proxy, so no third-party trackers are injected into your pages.

A checklist for an intranet social feed

  1. Decide which of your own channels are worth surfacing internally.
  2. Authorise each source with your own account - read-only.
  3. Keep it to published, public content; don't mix in private channels.
  4. Place it where culture content fits - a homepage sidebar or a "life at" page.
  5. Check it renders cleanly on mobile without third-party scripts slowing the page.
