Newsroom
News shows your published SharePoint news posts as dynamic cards, pulled live and read as the signed-in user, so everyone sees only the posts they already have access to. Choose from eight layouts (Editorial, Mosaic, Grid, List, Featured, Magazine, Carousel and Headlines) and source the news from this site or from a set of selected sites. In edit mode you can pin, reorder and flag stories as Breaking.
Permissions
No Microsoft Graph permission is needed for the news itself, which is read as the signed-in user. Only the optional audience targeting uses a single read-only Graph scope, GroupMember.Read.All, which your admin approves. If it is not granted, targeting fails open and the news still shows.
Set up
- Install the package (see the Install guide). Approve the optional targeting scope only if you want audience targeting.
- Edit a page → add the GCK Newsroom web part.
- In the property pane, choose a layout, pick your source, and set the columns and card detail.
Sources
- This site - the news posts published on the current site.
- Selected sites - a set of sites you pick from a live tenant search, combined into one feed. They can span hubs and departments, so one page can gather news from wherever it is published.
Layout options
- Layout - Grid, List, Featured, Magazine, Carousel or Headlines, with column controls.
- Card detail - thumbnails, authors and relative dates.
- Header - give the part a title and upload a header logo.
- Targeting - target the web part to Microsoft 365 or security groups.
- Theme - inherits your site theme, light and dark.
- Performance - cards paint immediately and thumbnails load in after, so the part never blocks the page, with tidy loading and empty states.
Every reader sees only the news posts they already have access to, and audience targeting fails open if the optional Graph scope is not granted.
