Talked a very unhappy client back from the edge this morning and turned it into a renewal conversation. Masterclass.

Seven badges, or your own

Team player Above and beyond Customer hero Fresh thinking Mentor Safety star Milestone

Each badge carries its own colour through the whole card, so a wall is scannable before anyone reads a word. Rename them, recolour them, change the icons, or replace the set with the values your organisation actually uses.

Four layouts

Featured Cards Masonry Compact rows

Featured leads with the newest cheer full width; Cards is an even grid; Masonry lets longer messages breathe; Compact rows suits a narrow column or a sidebar. Seven card styles sit on top, from a relaxed Profile look to a sharp Corporate one.

Culture, not a spreadsheet

The thank-you that would have been a private email.

A cheer takes seconds

Pick a colleague, pick a badge, say why, add a photo if you have one. No form to design, no list to build first - Cheers creates what it needs the first time you set it up.

Badges that mean something to you

Seven to start - Team player, Above and beyond, Customer hero, Fresh thinking, Mentor, Safety star and Milestone - each with its own colour that tints the whole card. Rename them, recolour them, or replace the set with your own values.

The latest cheer takes the stage

Spotlight gives the newest recognition a full-width card with a coloured rail, so the wall opens on something current rather than a uniform grid. It steps aside automatically when someone filters or searches.

Likes and comments, done properly

Reactions and replies live in their own lists so SharePoint's item-level security does the work: everyone can add their own, nobody can edit anyone else's, and a like is one row per person rather than a number anyone could overwrite.

Birthdays and anniversaries, surfaced

Point Cheers at the same opt-in celebrations list the Directory uses and this week's people appear above the wall, each with a one-click cheer already filled in with their name and a Milestone badge. Leave it off and the strip never shows.

Four layouts, seven card styles

Featured, Cards, Masonry and Compact rows, with card styles from Profile (relaxed, avatar overlapping the card) to Corporate (sharp corners, ruled header, structured). The same wall can read warm or formal.

Write it like you mean it

Optional rich text in both cheers and comments - bold, lists, links - so a proper thank-you does not have to be one flat line. Photos open in an accessible lightbox.

Find any cheer again

Live search across people and messages, quick filters for All, This month and My team, and a badge filter so you can pull out every Safety star at once. Long walls page rather than scroll forever.

No Graph permissions. Nothing leaves your tenant.

Cheers runs client-side as the signed-in user over SharePoint's own API, so there is nothing for an admin to consent to. Every cheer, like and comment lives in a SharePoint list on your own site, profile photos come from your tenant's own photo service, and nothing tracks who reads what.

Questions

Cheers FAQ

Where are cheers stored?

In three SharePoint lists on the site you add the web part to - the wall itself, likes and comments. Cheers creates them for you the first time you set it up. Everything stays in your own tenant and nothing is sent anywhere else.

Who can give a cheer?

Anyone who can view the page. Cheers grants members permission to add their own cheers, likes and comments when it provisions the lists, and SharePoint's own item-level security means people can edit or remove what they posted but not anyone else's.

Does it need Microsoft Graph permissions?

No, none at all. Cheers runs as the signed-in user over SharePoint's own API, and profile photos come from SharePoint's photo service. There is nothing for an admin to consent to.

Can we choose our own badges?

Yes. It ships with seven - Team player, Above and beyond, Customer hero, Fresh thinking, Mentor, Safety star and Milestone - and you can rename them, change their colours and icons, or replace the set entirely in the property pane.

Where do birthdays and anniversaries come from?

From a SharePoint list you already control - the same opt-in celebrations list the Directory web part uses. Point Cheers at it and this week's people appear above the wall with a one-click prefilled cheer. Leave it off and the strip simply does not show.

How is Cheers licensed?

Cheers is licensed per tenant with unlimited users and sites, from £29/month, on a 14-day free trial. A card is required to start the trial; cancel before it ends and you are not charged. There are no licence keys to manage: activate your tenant once in the customer portal and the app licenses itself automatically.
